Wildlife Photography in Costa Rica: Art, Ethics & Adventure
I traveled to Costa Rica to enrich my conservation portfolio with a very specific vision in mind. There is something about tropical wildlife that feels almost otherworldly. The exploding colors, the sudden movements, and the symphonies of sound stretch you creatively and personally.

Greater Flamingos of Sicily, Italy
The Greater Flamingo is only found in Africa, western Asia, and southern Europe. Typically they are found around shallow, saline and alkaline wetlands, and coastal lagoons during breeding season. When they come to Italy in the spring, they are on their migrational flight from Africa (specifically -Tunisia ) and stop over in Sicily to breed and raise their little ones before their flight to Spain. Read more to find out and see the images I photographed of the Greater Flamingos.

About the Artwork
The Story: This captivating wildlife photograph captures a family of Clark's Grebes on the open water of the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, showing one parent delivering a fish to an eager swimming chick while the second parent carries another baby safely on its back. Grebe chicks rely completely on this back-riding protection to conserve energy until they are strong enough to navigate rough currents independently. As a conservation photographer, documenting these vulnerable families is deeply vital, as national Clark's Grebe populations are currently facing a steady decline due to human disturbances, pesticide runoff, and the rapid drainage of their essential nesting lakes. Explore this and other conservation-focused avian images across my online [Shop Birds of a Feather].
The Technique: Captured using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens mounted securely on a stable tripod and gimbal head. To cleanly freeze the family interaction across the open water, I utilized a precise exposure to balance the reflection of the ripples while maintaining a tack-sharp focus on the fine details of the parent grebe's striking white throat and the feeding chick.

About the Artwork
The Story: Born from a period of forced isolation when wilderness travel was restricted, this vibrant kaleidoscope print explores the hidden symmetry of everyday objects and archival memories. I folded and an old book’s pages and intricately glued them into curls and injected a lot more rich purple and clean white tones to ask myself, "I wonder how this would work?" The resulting complex digital transformation reveals an intricate, mesmerizing geometry that kept my creativity alive during a trying time. Shop Fine Art Abstraction Collection
The Technique: This piece was created by taking a complex flatbed scanned image of a physical object captured on its side, which was then meticulously mirrored and arranged into a 24” x 24” square digital matrix using Adobe Photoshop.
