ROAMING WILD IN ALASKA

This was the year; I could feel it in my soul, Alaska was calling. I decided to explore the Kenai Peninsula with the hope of finding Puffins, Dall Sheep, Mountain Goats, Whales, and Glaciers.  I flew in a float plane, soared in a helicopter, and skimmed rough waters in a small boat, and I found all of the animals and landscapes my heart desired. It was an adventure of a lifetime.

WILD HORSES IN UTAH

Driving in Utah’s West Desert, spraying a fine sheet of dust behind me, I search for the Wild Onaqui Mustangs that have been in this region since the late 1800s. I know it is a gamble as to whether or not I will find them, and many times I have added over 100 miles just searching for the three herds of about fifty each. A smile spreads across my face, weary from leaving camp earlier in the day, as I come upon a herd. Parking my truck and grabbing my Nikon camera, long lens, and tripod I begin photographing the intimate relationships between the horse families and the staggering conflict displayed in the fierce fighting for dominance between the stallions.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Every year, just like clockwork, the Snow Geese stop in Delta, Utah on their migration route. The first year I witnessed this event, the geese stayed out on the water, too far for great photography. The next year, they left earlier than the year before because of favorable winds. However, this year, the waters were frozen, so the geese took to the fields - thousands upon thousands. It was jaw-dropping when thousands of them would take off at once, circle overhead, and land in a different section of the field. It sounded like jet engines flying overhead.
