Story behind the image: The Vendicari Nature Reserve in Sicily, Italy not only houses a large variety of birds, including the Greater Flamingo, Great Blue Heron, Black-winged Stilts, Little Egret, etc., it is filled with ruins from the Phoenician period. The birds have taken over this ruin sitting on a small pice of land in the reserve.
Method: Digital photograph taken with a Nikon Z8, and Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens through a blind on the wetland of Saline Nature Reserve Priolo in Sicily, Italy using high resolution photography to ensure details are preserved.
