The Story: This spectacular wildlife photograph captures a male Resplendent Quetzal dynamically stretching his wings just as he flies into a mossy branch area within the high-altitude cloud forest. The action freezes his outstretched wings to reveal the hidden coloration of his underwing feathers, contrasting a brilliant crimson breast and a crisp band of white against his vibrant emerald body and striking patches of ultramarine blue. The Technique: Captured in mid-action using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens mounted on a stable tripod, utilizing an ultra-fast shutter speed to sharply freeze the sweeping tail and outstretched wings while melting the surrounding trees into a beautiful blue and white background bokeh.
