The Story: This striking vertical wildlife portrait captures a solitary Greater Flamingo standing poised in the wetlands of the Saline di Priolo Nature Reserve, turning its long neck to peer directly back over its shoulder. Peering through the viewing holes of a permanent wooden blind, I documented this evocative moment as the watchful bird locked its gaze in my direction, maintaining an ever-vigilant eye on its immediate environment. The Technique: Captured on location using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens resting securely on a blind frame, utilizing a crisp eye-tracking focus plane to sharply pin the flamingo's watchful eye while the surrounding marsh softly recedes.
