Story behind the image: The shocking opposing views of this image of the peaceful Greater Flamingos against the darkening industrial complex behind them makes me wonder why they selected this wetland in Sicily to be their home. They didn’t start to migrate her until around 2015, and this is also a nesting site for them.
Method: Digital photograph taken with a Nikon Z8, and Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens through a blind on the wetland of Saline Nature Reserve Priolo in Sicily, Italy using high resolution photography to ensure details are preserved.
