Great Salt Lake Utah Photography Print | View from the Lake

$200.00

About the Artwork

  • The Story: This serene landscape photograph captures a quiet, chilly March morning on the Great Salt Lake as a vast blanket of clouds rolled over the water. Looking out across the peaceful blue expanse, a distant view of Fremont Island emerges behind a prominent sandbar. As a wildlife conservation photographer dedicated to protecting this iconic inland sea and its vital bird populations, I captured this image to inspire others to connect with and care for our lake. You can read more about the environmental importance and the behind-the-scenes details of this excursion on my Fremont Island Adventure Blog.

  • The Technique: Photographing from a fast-moving airboat presents a unique challenge for a conservation photographer. Shot handheld using a high-resolution Nikon D780 camera and a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens, I utilized a specialized body harness system to keep my gear secure over the corrosive salt water. This setup allowed me to maintain fluid motion and capture this sharp, tranquil composition despite the constant movement of the boat and the soft, flat lighting of the overcast sky.
