Great Salt Lake Utah Photography Print | Fremont Island Lit Up
About the Artwork
The Story: This fine art landscape photograph captures the raw, ethereal beauty of the Great Salt Lake at dawn. Standing along the shoreline, I watched the early morning sun pierce the horizon and brilliantly illuminate the rugged terrain of Fremont Island, highlighting the distant peak of Castle Rock. This spectacular location carries a rich history, notably inspiring the 19th-century homesteading stories documented by historian Dale Morgan. You can read more about my personal journey and the fascinating history of this location on my Fremont Island Adventure Blog.
The Technique: Captured handheld on location using a high-resolution Nikon D780 camera paired with a versatile 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens. This combination allowed me to quickly react to the fast-changing morning light, freezing a fleeting, high-contrast moment where the golden sunrise meets the vast, reflective waters of the lake.
