Great Salt Lake Utah Photography Print | Fremont Island Copper Rocks
About the Artwork
The Story: This vibrant nature photograph captures a stunning geological vignette hidden within the landscape of Fremont Island. This specific rock outcropping is heavily laden with copper, which has oxidized over time to produce a brilliant green hue that pops dramatically against the surrounding terrain. Nestled among the island's golden grasses and tiny, delicate magenta wildflowers, these mineral-rich formations highlight the raw, elemental diversity of the region. As a wildlife conservation photographer, documenting these unique interactions between earth, minerals, and flora allows me to share the intricate and fascinating layers of the Great Salt Lake's ancient ecosystem. Read more about discovering these hidden mineral deposits on my Fremont Island Adventure Blog.
The Technique: Photographed handheld on location using a high-resolution Nikon D780 camera paired with a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens. To fully emphasize the rich color theory at play, I carefully balanced the exposure under the natural sky to draw out the vivid contrast between the cool copper-green textures, the warm golden grasses, and the bright magenta blooms, creating a sharp and beautifully balanced close-up composition.
