About the Artwork
The Story: This captivating landscape photograph captures two airboats waiting along the rocky, muddy shores of Fremont Island, surrounded by golden spring foliage with Antelope Island framing the background. Taken as our expedition split up to safely navigate a quarter-mile of exposed mud, this image highlights the unique logistical challenges of exploring Utah's iconic inland sea. As a wildlife conservation photographer, I documented this moment as a historical testament to human interaction with a rapidly changing, fragile ecosystem. The Technique: Captured handheld using a high-resolution Nikon D780 camera and a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens, using a fast shutter speed to freeze the windy conditions while maintaining a sharp focus from the textured rocky shoreline to the distant island peaks.
