Great Salt Lake Utah Photography Print | Abstract Shore
About the Artwork
The Story: This intimate, abstract photograph focuses on the warm glow and multi-colored textures of the soil, rocks, and golden hues along the Fremont Island shoreline. As a wildlife conservation photographer, I captured this detailed macro view to document the complex mineral crusts left behind by receding waters—crusts that may carry unseen environmental toxins as the lakebed dries. This striking piece serves as both a beautiful study of natural design and a quiet plea for the preservation of the Great Salt Lake's ecosystem. Read my final thoughts on leaving the island on my Fremont Island Adventure Blog.
The Technique: Captured handheld using a high-resolution Nikon D780 camera and a 28-300mm Nikkor zoom lens, using a tight composition and sharp macro focus to isolate the rich, geometric patterns and unusual coloration of the shoreline elements.
