Story behind the image: One of my goals in photographing birds or wildlife is to be able to take an up-close portrait. Shooting through a blind hinders this opportunity, but as this Greater Flamingo floated “fairly” close I was able to zoom in and capture an image that later I would be able to crop to get the portrait I was after.
Method: Digital photograph taken with a Nikon Z8, and Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens through a blind on the wetland of Saline Nature Reserve Priolo in Sicily, Italy using high resolution photography to ensure details are preserved.
