The Story
Towering rocky peaks sweep downward into a dense hillside of conifers, giving way to an enormous alpine valley where a distant mountain crest rests under a fresh blanket of snow. Resting my knees on a peaceful chairlift ride down to the base viewpoint revealed this staggering perspective across the valley, where a road tunnel carving through the massive rock face appears minuscule against the scale of the colossal peaks. The Technique
This sweeping, high-resolution landscape was captured with a Nikon D780 and 28-300mm Nikkor lens, shot handheld to quickly frame the shifting parallax angles while descending on the open mountain chairlift.
