The Story: This graceful wildlife photograph captures a brilliant Snowy Egret gliding effortlessly just inches above the water's surface at Farmington Bay, viewed from an elevated vantage point on the bank. To preserve the pure, unblemished elegance of the bird's flight, I subtly abstracted the background to soften an accumulation of broken sticks and floating debris that cluttered the shallows. The Technique: Captured from an elevated embankment using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens mounted on a stable tripod with a fluid gimbal head, utilizing a wide aperture and a tracking pan to isolate the skimming egret while artistically blurring out the distracting sticks in the background water.
