The Story: Discovered during an exploration of the desert collections at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah, this striking Century Plant (Agave americana) immediately commanded my attention. I was fascinated by the brilliant, high-contrast relationship of the sharp red teeth lining the edges of the deep green leaves. The bold, complementary color palette serves as both a stunning visual display and nature's fair warning not to get too close to its formidable defenses.
