Peering deep into the shadowed heart of the garden, I spotted this single, perfectly formed Hawaiian Red Ginger flower (Alpinia purpurata). Its flawless structure stood out so beautifully against the rainforest backdrop that I stayed to document its elegance from every angle.

• The Technique: Shot with a high-resolution Nikon camera and a 28-300mm lens, this photograph captures the complex, layered symmetry of the tropical blossom. Zooming in tightly allows the deep crimson bracts to take center stage, revealing the rich textures and hidden symmetry of the Hawaiian forest.
