The Story: Discovered during an autumn walk through the sprawling pathways of Red Butte Garden—a foundational sanctuary for Utah flora that has enriched Salt Lake City since 1985—this macro study celebrates the intricate geometric patterns hidden within the forest floor. This fine art photograph captures the warm, golden evening light flowing directly through the wooden scales of a mature pine cone. The radiant illumination filtering through the organic fibers adds a touch of pure woodland magic, creating a comforting, earth-toned display that brings a grounding sense of the outdoors into any large room or rustic living space.
The Technique: Shot out in the field using a high-resolution Nikon camera and a specialized macro lens, this digital photograph relies on precise backlighting.
