Great Salt Lake Utah Wildlife Print | Killdeer, Friends
About the Artwork
The Story: This endearing wildlife photograph captures two Killdeer plovers standing together on a single rock against a beautiful backdrop of warm, golden reeds at the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. Photographed quietly from my vehicle window to ensure the birds remained completely relaxed, the pair stood side-by-side as if watching the camera in quiet companionship. As a wildlife conservation photographer, documenting these familiar shorebirds highlights the importance of protecting the rocky mud flats and wetland edges of the Great Salt Lake system where these spirited birds forage and breed. Explore this and other conservation-focused avian images across my online [Shop Birds of a Feather].
The Technique: Captured from a vehicle window blind using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera paired with a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens resting steadily on the window frame. I utilized a wide aperture to keep the textured rock and the intricate double-breasted bands of the Killdeer in tack-sharp focus while beautifully softening the golden background foliage.
