About the Artwork
The Story: Born from a period of forced isolation when wilderness travel was restricted, this vibrant kaleidoscope print explores the hidden symmetry of everyday objects and archival memories. I placed white daisy petals onto my flatbed scanner to capture them falling into a natural group at the bottom, meticulously building multiple digital layers before running the final composite through my geometric process and wondering, "I wonder how this would work?" The resulting labor-intensive transformation reveals an intricate, mesmerizing geometry that shapes a striking central dome of white petals surrounded by a contrasting dark blue void, a complex experiment that kept my creativity alive during a trying time. The Technique: This piece was created by taking a multi-layered, complex flatbed scanned image of a physical object, which was then meticulously mirrored and arranged into a 24” x 24” square digital matrix using Adobe Photoshop.
