About the Artwork
The Story: Born from a period of forced isolation when wilderness travel was restricted, this vibrant kaleidoscope print explores the hidden symmetry of everyday objects and archival memories. I placed a freshly sliced artichoke onto my flatbed scanner and wondered, "I wonder how this would work?" The resulting complex digital transformation reveals an intricate, mesmerizing geometry in deep golden yellows, rich reds, and interwoven greens, creating a striking Egyptian style design where unique, tiny figurine-like shapes pop out from the organic patterns to keep my creativity alive during a trying time. The Technique: This piece was created by taking a flatbed scanned image of a physical object, which was then meticulously mirrored and arranged into a 24” x 24” square digital matrix using Adobe Photoshop.
