The Story: This intimate wildlife photograph captures a young Great Horned Owlet peering curiously down from an unusually low nest on Antelope Island, with a sibling subtly visible in the soft dawn background. Arriving at first light each week to document the brood safely before crowds arrived, I witnessed this low-profile nesting site face immense stress as park visitors repeatedly violated protective ranger barriers for cell phone close-ups. As a wildlife conservation photographer, capturing this direct, striking eye contact serves as an urgent plea for ethical wildlife viewing and the absolute necessity of respecting safe boundaries around our public lands' fragile nesting raptors.
