Red Egg, New Beginnings
In this painting, I depicted the woman in green holding a red egg to symbolize new beginnings, rebirth, and good fortune. In many religions eggs symbolize the blood of Christ and his resurrection. This is especially true in Eastern Orthodox religions. In Chinese cultures red also is a color of prosperity and good luck. Red eggs are often given to celebrate births, weddings, and other important events in life. In addition, green often symbolizes new beginnings, such as the beginnings of spring.
In the distant background, I have painted three crosses to symbolize the crucification of Christ.
I used myself as a model for this image; painting while looking in a mirror.
