Frozen Yellow Rose Botanical Print | Standing Proud
About the Artwork
The Story: A single yellow rose (Rosa) is a timeless emblem of joy, warmth, and resilience. For this studio study created in Utah, I fully immersed this vibrant blossom in water and froze it for a complete 24-hour cycle. Rather than buckling under the weight of the ice, the rose maintained its stately, upright structure. This fine art photograph documents that majestic stance, capturing the flower as it stands proud within its crystalline environment—a beautiful, symbolic testament to finding strength and beauty in the coldest elements.
The Technique: Shot in my studio using a high-resolution Nikon camera and a specialized macro lens, this digital photograph focuses on architectural form. The precise, close-up composition isolates the majestic column of the rose, utilizing controlled studio light to cut through the ice layers and highlight the intricate, velvety edges of the golden petals as they hold their ground.
