Frozen Cone Flower Botanical Print | Falling
About the Artwork
The Story: This fine art entry captures the elegant, weightless descent of nature suspended in time. Created in Utah, I fully submerged these cream-colored Cone Flowers (Echinacea) in water and froze them for a complete 24-hour cycle. The freezing process beautifully warped the petals, capturing a dynamic sense of motion that makes the delicate blossoms appear as if they are gracefully falling through a deep, crystalline winter sky.
The Technique: Shot inside my studio using a high-resolution Nikon camera and a specialized macro lens, this digital photograph is a detailed study of organic forms trapped in ice. The crisp, tight composition highlights the dramatic contrast between the prominent, textured centers of the cone flowers and the smooth, glass-like boundaries of the surrounding ice sheets.
