About the Artwork
The Story: There is a striking, resilient beauty to winter berries holding their deep crimson color against the frozen elements. Created in Utah, I fully submerged this vibrant cluster of red winter berries in water and froze them solid for a complete 24-hour cycle. The intense freezing process locked the berries inside a dense, crystalline fortress. This fine art photograph documents that beautiful preservation, capturing the bright red globes as they gleam beneath the ice, offering a rich, high-contrast pop of color that introduces a cozy, sophisticated winter warmth into your home decor.
The Technique: Shot in my studio using a high-resolution Nikon camera and a specialized macro lens, this digital photograph is a beautiful exploration of color contrast and texture. The precise vertical composition isolates the tight cluster of berries, utilizing controlled studio light to cut through the ice layers and highlight the tiny trapped oxygen bubbles resting against the smooth, deep red surfaces.
