Great Salt Lake Utah Wildlife Print | Burrowing Owl, Wings Tucked

$150.00

About the Artwork

  • The Story: This dynamic wildlife photograph captures a tiny Burrowing Owl gliding low over the grasslands of Antelope Island, its wings swept forward in a powerful tuck while its golden eye catches a brilliant, sharp highlight from the early morning sun. Moving deliberately over the fields to look for insects and small rodents, the raptor's fierce, concentrated expression reveals its intense focus on the hunt. As a wildlife conservation photographer, documenting these active foraging flights emphasizes the critical importance of protecting large, unbroken stretches of native upland prairie within the Great Salt Lake watershed. • The Technique: Captured handheld from a vehicle window blind for swift panning flexibility, using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens. I utilized a blistering fast shutter speed to counteract the bird's flight velocity, locking focus precisely on the owl's eye to preserve its sharp expression while cleanly freezing its compressed wing feathers mid-glide.
