Great Salt Lake Utah Wildlife Print | Burrowing Owl, One Legged Stance
About the Artwork
The Story: This delightful square-format wildlife photograph captures a tiny Burrowing Owl perched elegantly on a single leg atop a weathered rock, set against the vast, golden fields of Antelope Island. Taken during the same June afternoon series from my vehicle window, the owl's amusing balance pose mimics a calm, meditative yoga stance. As a wildlife conservation photographer, documenting these expressive, ground-dwelling raptors highlights the unique behaviors of the native prairie species that rely on the Great Salt Lake's protected upland grasslands to hunt and breed. Explore this and other conservation-focused wildlife images across my online [Shop Birds of a Feather].
The Technique: Captured from a vehicle window blind using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor zoom lens resting steadily on the window frame. I utilized a wide aperture to achieve a beautifully compressed, cream-like separation between the textures of the stone perch and the sweeping golden background fields.
