The Technique: Captured in the freezing elements using a high-resolution Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera and a powerful 200-500mm Nikkor lens secured on a steady tripod. To maximize the impact of the black and white conversion, I utilized a precise exposure to emphasize the deep tonal contrast between the heron's dark plumage and the bright, shattered crystalline textures of the reflecting ice.
