Yellowstone National Park, Elk Bull
Experience the sight of the majestic bull Elk in the early morning at Yellowstone National Park.
As a wildlife photographer, I know the early morning is the best time to capture wildlife others will not see. Spotting the bull Elk and the herd and listening to it bugle in the early morning dawn made my heart race. I knew this moment in time would end quickly, so I moved fast - grabbing my tripod and Nikon Z8, so I could focus on the mammal’s eyes. The light was low, so I used a higher ISO than I would have liked, but I wanted to get the shot, and knew I could adjust it later in Lightroom.
This was the rutting season, so the bull was rounding up the females and herding them away from the growing crowd of spectators one usually sees when one spots Yellowstone wildlife.
Such is the life of a wildlife photographer - rush to a spot, rush to set-up, quickly take shots before the animal moves on. Repeat as needed. However, sometimes the wildlife stays put, meandering through a meadow, and then it is a difficult decision as to when to leave.
Being a wildlife photographer from Utah, I have plenty of opportunities to photograph wildlife. However, there is just something dramatic about being in Yellowstone National Park. All of my prints are edited with the utmost care, so I can offer you images that will last your lifetime.
This piece would make an incredibly large statement piece. Bring the majesty of the Wapiti Bull Elk into your home, and contact me if you are interested in a conversation about printing the image larger instead of what is listed on my website.
