Backlight breaking through the sharp spines of the Cholla Cactus in Joshua Tree National Park in monochrome creates a surreal landscape.
Moving into a low squat I photographed this monochrome image with my wide angle lens to add to the mysteriousness of the landscape before my eyes. The sun was just breaking through the low clouds lending an intense backlight to the Cholla Cactus Garden on this early dawn morning.
With the forefront in a softer focus, the cholla cactus moves in and out of focus in this dynamic piece that would definitely be a conversation starter in any location. For those of you who love unusual or surreal landscapes this piece is for you.
