The abundance and variety of plant life in Joshua Tree is quite outstanding, and everywhere I wandered I was surprised by the botanical growth beneath my feet. Hiking on one of the many trails, I would photograph interesting plant life and textures using my macro lens. I am drawn to the soft focus of plants that would otherwise lend themselves to be sharp and linear. The flowing tendrils of the plant inspired me to soften the focus, and slow down my shutter speed.
This black and white photo would look dynamic as a large piece on a wall, or in a grouping with other black and white images with a similar softness. It would add a quiet place to sit back and reflect on the beauty surrounding us. Check out this image as a possible pairing.
