Everglades National Park, Halloween Pennant Dragonfly
Imagine walking through a section of the wild Everglades National Park and seeing this vibrant, yellow Halloween, Pennant Dragonfly alight on some foliage.
The humidity was palpable on this early morning in one of the Everglades National Parks creating a dramatic, misty, atmospheric appearance across the wetlands. In areas such as this, I never know what I will encounter as I am looking for all types of wildlife to photograph. When I noticed the Halloween Pennant Dragonfly perch on the very tips of the vegetation, I zoomed in with my 500mm lens, so I could focus on the eyes of this insect. They feed on mosquitoes and gnats, which were prevalent that warm December morning in Florida.
Most of the Dragonflies from my home state of Utah, perch vertically on branches, whereas the Halloween Dragonfly perches horizontally on the top of branches. If you love unique wildlife images, and dragonflies in particular, this image will add warmth to any room. Dragonflies also symbolize transformation, so this piece would be a reminder to focus on transformation or spirituality in your life, making it perfect for your home or office.
This particular piece is framed with a narrow black frame. If you would prefer to frame it yourself, reach out and I’ll create a link for you to follow.
