Death Valley National Park, Mesquite Sand Dunes, Golden
In the early dawn, the bright blue skies create dramatic contrasts of light and dark making the edges and wavy sand ripples of the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park stand out.
Bask in the warmth of the early dawn and take in the long, flowing shadows, the rippled sandy highlights, and the highly contrasted landscape of the Mesquite Sand Dunes dotted with creosote bushes and a tiny branch of a Mesquite tree breaking through the sand.
The previous day and evening I spent my time photographing the Mesquite Sand Dunes enveloped in the middle of a dust storm. When I awakened in the morning I was exhausted from my previous day’s work and listening to the wind blow loose pieces of metal against the roof all night in my hotel. I had a long drive ahead of me, and I was anxious to get going. Yet, when I drove near the sand dunes the contrast I was witnessing made me park my truck and grab my camera. I just couldn’t get over the difference in the two days, and I was drawn to both types of scenes right before my eyes in Death Valley.
I hope you get a chance to explore all of the images in my Death Valley National Park Collection, and understand how crucial it is for me to photograph in all types of weather so I can offer spectacular views such as this one for you.
